ESTABLISHED 1994

Ladies of Purpose, Power, and Prestige Committed to Impact, Impart, and Improve!
In the Beginning...

Omega Tau Pi was founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana upon a high school setting in 1989 alongside the revival of the Greek system on Historically Black Universities and Colleges. A group of students formed a dance team that included seven young men calling themselves "Unity Phi Unity". With those seven young men, several young ladies aligned themselves to dance alongside "Unity Phi Unity", they were known as the "U-Girls". The "U-Girls" and "Unity Phi Unity" dedicated themselves to their studies, their talents, and their community, which they displayed throughout the Baton Rouge area in various talent shows and school dances. These youth were passionate about the art of dance and showing off their creativity. The groups gave them somehting to hold fast to in a society where negativity and failure were vying for the youth of the days attention all around. Focused and dedicated to "be the difference," these youth not only committed to making this an organziation to help themselves, but also to create a platform that would help others in the coming generations...

Let there be Seven...
After performing together under the moniker of "Unity Phi Unity" the men changed their name to Upsilon Phi Upsilon Fraternity to strengthen their bonds of brotherhood as they entered the campus of Southern University. Not long after, the "U-Girls" which consisted of the following young ladies: Vonnie Trimble, Zanovia Chube, Veronica Gilkes, Sharvette Brock, Taisheka Johnson, Nerissa Janell Dillon and Montrelle George, followed and became the Founding Sisters of Omega Tau Pi Sorority, Inc. Most of these young ladies became Charter Members and Founders of this Sorority. Kayla Ford was added to the charter roster completing the list of the Founding Mothers of Omega Tau Pi. Omega Tau Pi became dedicated to enlisting other young ladies that carried the same vision and fortitude to see a sisterhood bulit which would speak for generations to come. A platform for developement into "woman hood." Building responsible ladies to impact society at large and bridging the gaps that could leave some of our young ladies left in the the trenches of life, if bridges weren't formed for them to walk across. These seven were and are strong, committed, and tenacious about seeing the vision of this great organization "grow forward."
